BREAKING NEWS : What Sean McDermott said about another Bills loss to Chiefs, who’s to blame..??

Orchard Park, New York — It didn’t matter what the Buffalo Bills defense was up against on Sunday night in their playoff defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs; they couldn’t get a stop until it was too late.

The Chiefs scored on five of their first six drives, and Buffalo’s offense lost steam down the line in another dismal postseason loss.

Bills coach Sean McDermott, who took over as defensive coordinator this season following the departure of former DC Leslie Frazier, accepted the blame.

“It starts with me as the head coach,” he told reporters. “Even if the offender (struggled), it began with me, and I accept full responsibility. That’s how I feel about it; we didn’t do enough to win the game.
The Bills clinched the second seed with five straight wins to conclude the season, ensuring that they would play their first two games at home. They never played against the Kansas City Chiefs at Highmark.

McDermott placed the loss squarely on the defense and special teams. Tyler Bass missed a potential game-tying field goal with just two minutes remaining in the contest. The defense struggled to stop the Chiefs on first and second downs throughout the game. Kansas City was only 1-for-5 on third down, but the Bills struggled to put themselves in those positions.

“We didn’t play the way we needed to, I thought, in two of the three phases,” McDermott remarked at the time. “Defense first, then special teams. I felt offended because we had done some pretty nice things… We moved the football and possessed it, as we knew we had to do against Mahomes and the offense. However, we did not perform well enough defensively to have a greater impact on the game.”
