BREAKING NEWS : Huddersfield Town has announces the departure of another fantastic star

Loick Ayina joined Ross County on loan.

Huddersfield Town’s defender returns to the Scottish Premiership. Town has taken an option on Ayina’s contract until 2025.

Huddersfield Town defender Loick Ayina has returned to the Scottish Premiership on loan with Ross County for the remainder of the season, having previously spent time with Dundee United in the second half of the 2022/23 season.

Prior to the loan agreement being finalized, the Club exercised the option year on Ayina’s existing Town contract, keeping him with us until at least the summer of 2025.

He is a regular captain for Town’s B Team and has made four appearances for the Club in all competitions at First Team level, coming on as a substitute twice in the Sky Bet Championship this season and once in the Carabao Cup, playing 90 minutes.

The 20-year-old French defender is no stranger to the Scottish Premiership, having made 13 appearances for Dundee United in all competitions in 2023, recording one assist.

Huddersfield Town’s Sporting Director, Mark Cartwright, commented:

“Loick has real potential and has demonstrated it already, but in order to truly learn his trade, he needs to play consistently, which is unlikely to happen for him here at the moment given the other options we have in the same position.”

“As we recently saw with Brodie Spencer, these possibilities can be the ideal platform for a player on the verge of joining our First Team to obtain the necessary experience before returning to us ready to perform at that level, which is a task that Loick is aware of.

“Taking the option on his contract for another season, we believe he has the potential to grow and improve, and we are excited to watch how he performs for Ross County at this critical juncture of the season. After performing well in Scotland last season, his job is to build on that success.

Huddersfield Town’s manager, Darren Moore, added:

“I’ve loved working with and getting to know Loick, and I admire his passion and enthusiasm for defending; that kind of positivism and attitude toward hard work is a testament to him, and we know it will continue with Ross County.

“I’m really happy that we’ve taken the option on his contract to keep him with us for another season, too, and we will be watching on to see how he progresses in Scotland with a keen eye – he’s a player that could have a bright future ahead of him should he put all of his talents together in the right way.”

Bon chance, Loick!
