The Colorado Avalanche have expanded their forward lineup by adding veteran winger Zach Parise to a one-year contract worth $825,000. The announcement came shortly before their game against the Los Angeles Kings, adding experience and depth to the Avalanche squad.
Parise, who became a free agent after signing a one-year contract with the New York Islanders in July, has found a new home with the Colorado Avalanche midseason. Despite other teams’ interest, the 37-year-old forward chose Colorado, where he hopes to contribute and contend for the Stanley Cup. Rumors of his signing with the Avalanche were initially reported by Michael Russo of The Athletic earlier this week.
