Town Women continued their fine run with an emphatic victory in West Sussex.Swindon Town Women maintained their outstanding record in the FA Women’s National League with a resounding victory over Selsey Women on Sunday.
Swindon Town Women’s threatening first half gave them a six-goal lead at halftime, with Annie Colston scoring four times, Gipsy Viveash scoring early on, and Georgia Clifford adding to the lead.
Holly Randall, Mia Mugford, and Georgia Vandries scored after coming off the bench in the second half, as did Colston, who scored three more goals, Meg Jarvis twice, and Helena Diaz-Butcher once.
Town looked to continue their fine success this season with a 1-0 victory over Southampton Women in the FAWNL, and they got off to a good start with Gipsy Viveash striking the score less than a minute after kickoff.
Meg Jarvis’s magnificent ball from the right side crosses the ball perfectly, and Viveash was unmarked to tuck the ball into the roof of the net, giving Town the lead.
Town doubled their lead seconds later, with striker Annie Colston blasting into the bottom corner as Swindon appeared to be the clear team in command of the game from that point forward.
Colston scored her second goal of the game from close range at the 10-minute mark, and not long after, she completed her first hat-trick of the year with a ball sent nicely by Viveash, who exploited her pace down the wing, and the striker turned away from her defender cleanly to secure her third.
Georgia Clifford was the first to react after Town swung in a corner, and she expertly deposited the ball into the bottom corner, giving Town a commanding lead at the halfway point.
Just before halftime, Colston scored her fourth goal and Town’s sixth with an easy through ball that found the striker’s foot, who made a terrific move inside the area and neatly put the ball beyond the keeper.
Half-time: Selsey Women 0, Swindon Town Women 6.
Megan Jarvis scored the opening goal of the second half, making it Town’s seventh.
Swindon put up a strong display in the second half, increasing their lead over Selsey with goals from all three substitutes, Holly Randall, Mia Mugford, and Georgia Vandries.
Winger Helena Diaz-Butcher had the finest time on the pitch, providing numerous impressive assists during the game and putting a magnificent finish to the game, resulting in a 15-0 triumph.
Following this result, Swindon Town Women will be full of confidence for their next FA Women’s National League fixtures, with Keynsham Town Women up next at Foundation Park.
