Swindon Town might lose seven players on free transfers this summer, as their contracts expire.
Swindon Town has a number of players whose contracts will expire in the summer, and the uncertainty surrounding their futures could have an impact on their league table position before the end of the current season.
With seven players running out of time to sign new contracts with the Robins, there is still much work to be done with the group at the County Ground.

The team may lose some key players on free transfers in the summer, so they will need to offer some extensions or delve into the transfer market in the summer.

Let’s take a look at which players’ contracts will expire in June and are currently expected to leave Swindon in the summer.
Charlie Austin

Charlie Austin: Swindon Town striker says promotion will be 'tougher' next season - BBC Sport
Veteran striker Charlie Austin, whose contract is about to expire, could leave Swindon by the summer.
At the end of last season, the former QPR and Southampton player signed a one-year contract extension with the club, which will expire in the summer.

Swindon may wish to extend the 34-year-old’s contract beyond this year, since the striker has already impressed by scoring and assisting in League Two this season.

Tom Brewitt

After impressing during a short spell at the club last year, Tom Brewitt signed a one-year-deal to stay with Swindon throughout the 2023/24 season.

He played every game after signing in the last campaign, and has been ever present in the side this year that currently sit mid-table in League Two.

George McEachran
Former Chelsea youth prospect George McEachran signed a one-year contract with Swindon last year, after leaving the London club without making a single first-team appearance.

After 16 matches in League Two, the club activated an optional extra year in his deal, which is set to run out at the end of the current campaign.

The 23-year-old has been a key player for the Robins’ this season so far, so the club will want to hand him a new contract before McEachran walks out on a free transfer in the summer.
Left-back Reece Devine is coming to the end of his contract at the County Ground, with his future currently uncertain.

Devine signed a two-year deal when he signed for Swindon in 2022, meaning that he will be a free agent if he does not sign another contract before the end of the season.

Despite not being a key player so far for the Robins, the former Manchester United defender is only 22-years-old, so it could be a smart signing to offer him a contract to see how he develops in the future.

Tyrese Shade
Saint Kitts and Nevis international Tyrese Shade also signed a contract for two years in the summer of 2022, as Swindon are looking a big exodus of players at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old forward has struggled off the bench, with a low tally of goals and assists doing nothing to convince manager Gavin Gunning to hand him a fresh deal to carry on with his career at the County Ground.

William Kokolo

William Kokolo might also leave Swindon in just four months, as his contract expires at the end of June this year.
The former Sunderland and Middlesbrough left-back began his career with Monaco and has already established himself as a vital starter for Swindon in League Two this season.

Given how Gunning has previously used Kokolo in a variety of positions, his versatility should earn him a new contract with the club.

Tom Clayton

Former Liverpool defender Tom Clayton is the final player whose contract will expire at the conclusion of the season, and his future at the County Ground is still uncertain.

He joined the Robins in 2022 for an undisclosed fee, signing a two-year contract with a one-year option.
This implies he can leave the club for free in July and possibly sign a pre-contract with a foreign club straight away. Given how little he has played since joining Swindon, it is probably in both sides’ best interests that he exits the team at the end of his current contract.
