Will Boyle has urged Wrexham fans to get the Racecourse Ground “rocking” ahead of the visit of last season’s opponents Notts County.Wrexham ended a run of three consecutive defeats against Sutton United on Tuesday even
ing, winning 2-1, and will now face Notts County this weekend. Last season, the two sides competed in a classic struggle for automatic promotion to the National League; Wrexham won with 111 points, County placed second with 107, and were eventually promoted through the play-offs. As a result, Boyle has advised supporters to turn up the volume on Saturday.
After the win over Sutton, Boyle told Wrexham’s YouTube channel: “It’s now Saturday-Tuesday.” We play the next two Tuesdays. Lots of away games. So it’s healthy for your spirit. We’ll be back at the Racecourse on Saturday, and we’re hoping to rock the place. So we understand that there is still a lot of work to be done. But that was a positive outcome for us.”
This season, the two clubs have been less tight. Wrexham are presently fourth, six points behind leaders Stockport with a game in hand, while Notts County are seventh and have suffered a significant drop in form, winning none of their previous five games.
A Wrexham victory this weekend may propel them into the top three, securing automatic promotion, while a County success would give them some breathing room over ninth, who are now in the final play-off berth.
