However, the short-handed Grizzlies defeated the Bucks 113-110, handing Milwaukee one of its most humiliating losses of the season.
Following the game, Giannis Antetokounmpo spoke with The Athletic about the defeat and what it meant for him and the team.
“Enough of the ‘our s— don’t-stink’ mentality. Do we actually want it? “Are we doing the work?” Antetokounmpo asked.
Antetokounmpo gave his everything for the team, scoring 35 points, 12 assists, and shooting 15 of 17 from the field.
Damian Lillard also contributed significantly, scoring 24 points and dishing out seven assists.
Even with extra assistance from other players, it was insufficient to slow down Ziaire Williams, GG Jackson II, and the rest of the Grizzlies’ weak squad.
The Bucks are currently 3-7 in their last 10 games under Doc Rivers, and there are concerns that things will only get worse as the season progresses.
Their goal has always been to return to the NBA Finals, but fans are concerned that if they continue to lose games like this, they may not be able to do it.
The addition of Lillard during the previous offseason was expected to boost the squad in a variety of ways.
While it has helped them on the offensive end of the court, the squad still has a significant defensive weakness.
The Bucks now have a few days off due to the All-Star Game, which will allow them to assess their situation and plan their next steps.
It’s time for them to respond to Antetokounmpo’s queries.
Will the Bucks’ loss against the Grizzlies be a wake-up call or the beginning of a bitter losing streak?
