Boston — Hampus Lindholm had an awkward fall midway through the third period and did not return for the Bruins’ 4-3 shootout victory over the Dallas Stars on Monday at TD Garden.

Ty Dellandrea collided with him in the corner behind Jeremy Swayman, causing their knees to meet. Lindholm skated awkwardly to the bench with just over ten minutes left.
He initially remained on the bench but then proceeded to the locker room. He played 18:32 before being injured.
Jim Montgomery did not provide an update on his condition.

“I don’t have anything concrete yet,” he told me. “We’ll know more tomorrow.”

The Bruins could face a roster decision as they fly west for games beginning Wednesday in Edmonton, followed by Calgary, Vancouver, and Seattle.

Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara's status still uncertain for Game 5 of Stanley Cup Final

If Lindholm is unable to go, the Bruins will have only six defenseman available, leaving little room for error if anyone is injured or ill. However, unless Lindholm is placed on injured reserve, they will need to move someone else to bring up a defenseman, most likely Mason Lohrei or Ian Mitchell.

Lindholm hasn’t been as good as he was last year, when he was considered for the Norris Trophy, but his absence is noticeable. Lindholm ranks second on the squad, trailing Charlie McAvoy.

The average ice time each game is 23:48. He has one goal and 18 assists this season. He plays an important role on the penalty kill and power play units, as well as the team’s three-on-three overtime units.
