Watford send 4-word message to ex Hornets and Everton star after heartbreaking news

The former Watford player also made an impression at Everton during his Premier League career.
Gerard Deulofeu, a former Everton and Watford star, has stated that he may never play football again at the age of 29 due to a likely career-ending injury.

The winger has been out for more than a year due to the condition, with his last game for current club Udinese coming in January 2023 against Sampdoria. Deulofeu had just returned from missing three league games due to a knee bruise, only to have another condition that necessitated surgery.

He told Jijantes’ Twitch channel, “For several months, I’ve known that I might not play again.” I’ve been unable to do what I enjoy for more than a year. I can’t say much because I’m going through a difficult situation. “You can’t imagine what I’m going through.”I’m attempting to recuperate in every manner, but I’ve accepted the fact that I may never recover. In 2020, I suffered an injury that severely damaged my knee, but I was able to recover. I then experienced a third injury, which resulted in problems.

“I can’t say much since I have a contract with my club, but I will say that it’s a true ordeal; you can’t understand what’s happening to me. However, I’m attempting to recuperate in every manner. However, I am also preparing for a post-playing career.
Deulofeu went on to say that he had made significant changes in his life on a ‘personal level’ and thanked those who had helped him, without whom he ‘would have plunged into depression’.

The former Barcelona star rose to prominence in the UK, first with Everton and later with Watford. The official Watford social media account responded to the star’s interview this week with the message, “We’re all behind you.”

Deulofeu played 75 games for Everton and 70 for Watford, where he was the FA Cup runner-up in 2019. He was also a member of the squad that was relegated from the Premier League the following season, but he maintained his love for the fans despite the team’s struggles.

In November 2019, he addressed Sky Sports: “My message to the supporters is to thank them for their incredible support because in the Premier League and England, there is a lot of respect for teams that aren’t doing so well, which is fantastic.

“Now, the players must give them victories because they support us regardless of the outcome, which does not happen in other countries.” So we need to honor our fans and give them our all.”
