Nathan Jones makes Derby County ‘fear’ comment as Charlton defender branded ‘silly’ over ban
Latest Derby County news from Derbyshire Live gives you what Nathan Jones has said as the Addicks prepare to face the Rams tomorrow. Jones says his Charlton side will not fear facing Derby County tomorrow night, but admits it will be a difficult test against Paul Warne’s team.
The Addicks have resorted to Jones to keep them out of relegation trouble, as he has taken over a team that has yet to win in 2024. With Charlton just one spot above the drop zone, there is growing concern that the club may be relegated to League Two.
A journey to Derby is not an easy task, but Jones stated, “We know Derby is a very, very difficult game.” But we’re not going.
“To fear it,” he said.
“We have a style of play and target specific teams. If you are good enough to beat us, that is fine. If you’re not, we’re Charlton; that’s the mindset now.”
Charlton will be without centre-back Lloyd Jones, who received his 10th yellow card of the season at the weekend. And Jones stated, “He’s been silly. He picked it up as dissent, so we’ll deal with it. It’s unfortunate because he’s been in great shape. “He was aggressive and defended well, but now someone else has a chance.”That is what we have required of people. We have six centre-halves. We have Michael Hector back. [Lucas] Nessy is present. [Macauley] Gillesphey arrived and played today. We have cover.
