BREAKING NEWS : Charlton boss gave a brief response when asked about Cheltenham Town draw

Nathan Jones has dismissed any suggestion that Charlton Athletic’s point at Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night was sufficient.

The Addicks extended their League One unbeaten streak to five games with a 1-1 draw at Northampton Town over the weekend.

The South Londoners have had to share the spoils in four of their most recent games, with the maximum points coming last week at Derby County.

Charlton are 18th in the table, four points ahead of their opponents tomorrow.

But Jones was keen to refute any notion that he would accept a draw before the match.

Karoy Anderson’s second senior league goal put the Addicks up at Northampton, before Louis Appere punished Harry Isted’s blunder.

“We’re not in a bad place in any way, shape or form,” Jones added. “It would have been great if we had two more points. It would have moved us up the league and given us a bit more of a cushion, and we would have received what we deserved.

“We’ve got to (thrive in the demanding environment at Cheltenham), but it’s not just about me; the group, club, and players all need to thrive there. We look forward to every game now because of our level of performance; we’re performing extremely well.

“We’ve got to keep that momentum going and keep picking up points – get ourselves away from the danger zone.”
