Charlie Austin, the Swindon Town striker, has kept his long-term future at the County Ground under wraps.
Following a time with Brisbane Roar in Australia, Swindon Town re-signed the forward in 2022.
Austin, 34, is out of contract at the conclusion of the season and will become a free agent as things stand.
According to an article in the Swindon Advertiser, he has supplied the following latest update on his situation: “I have had chats with my wife regarding next year, but it has nothing to do with you, so we will have to wait and see. I’ve had the talks, but you’ll have to wait and see.”
Swindon Town will benefit from having Austin in their team. He has a wealth of experience and a keen sense of goal.
Since his return to the Robins, he has scored 18 goals in 50 games, nine of which came this season.
In 2010, the Wiltshire club signed him as a youngster from Poole Town in non-league, and he scored 37 goals in 65 appearances during his first term.
Before moving to Australia, he played in the Premier League for Burnley, QPR, Southampton, and West Brom.
Austin scored four goals in 11 A-League games with the Brisbane Roar before electing to return home.
Swindon will have to wait and see if he decides to stay longer or take on a fresh challenge elsewhere in the upcoming campaign.
The Robins are currently ranked 17th in League Two, comfortably near the middle of the table. Following their 1-1 draw with Harrogate Town last week, they return to action this weekend with a tough away journey to Field Mill to face league leaders Mansfield Town.
