A starts player update issued by Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl after half-time substitution

Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has revealed why captain Barry Bannan was substituted in the 1-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle.

When the important midfielder did not appear for the second half, the game remained tied at 0-0. Momo Diaby replaced him on the team.

Rohl stated after the game, “Before halftime, there was a little bit [of a] knock on the head.” Then he stated he was fine at halftime, and then he felt ‘Oh, it starts a little bit, the ache’.

“Then I protected him by saying, ‘Okay, Barry, you stay in’. I bring a fresh one in, and that’s all. Hopefully he’ll be available on Friday [against Leeds United]. It would be beneficial and advantageous for us.”

Wednesday will return to play on Friday (March 8) with a Yorkshire derby against high-flying Leeds.

He said, “Now we need everyone. I believe that having a large number of gamers available right now is also critical.

“You can see a little bit of the game time that I have to control. Dom’s first start following a lengthy injury. I believe you sense his power, but he is currently unable to perform for 90 minutes. Akin rested today; he will help us on Friday, of course. I believe this is a bit of the chop shifting we need right now, especially with midweek games.”
