Charlton Athletic man poised to miss Carlisle United clash as Nathan Jones provides update

Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones has stated that striker Chuks Aneke is ‘not available’ at the moment.
Charlton Athletic return to League One action this weekend, hosting Carlisle United.
Aneke, 30, has missed the past two games against Northampton Town and Cheltenham Town.

He is a doubt for Saturday again, and Jones has offered the following update, according to London News Online: “He picked up something. We can never push Chuks because he’s not like the other specimens. We have to be cautious. “He’s not available, that’s all.”

However, they have other quality options in his position, including Alfie May, Dan Kanu, and January addition Freddie Ladapo, highlighting their depth.
Aneke rejoined the Addicks in 2022 after a brief period with Birmingham City, and he has since scored eight goals in 39 games.

He has struggled to obtain a consistent run in the team this season due to injury issues, and it has been a tough campaign overall for him.

The former England youth international, who has also played for Arsenal, Zulte Waregem, and MK Dons, still has a year left on his contract at The Valley, allowing him to be patient with his recuperation because his career is not at stake.

Jones has made an excellent first impression at Charlton since taking over for Michael Appleton.

The former Luton Town and Southampton manager has lost only once in his first seven games in charge.

The Addicks have improved to 14th in the league, seven points above the relegation zone with nine games remaining, following their 3-1 victory against Cheltenham.
