The LSU Tigers standout issued a message to the opponents.
Angel Reese, a senior with the Louisiana State University Tigers, is establishing herself as a leader after sending a chilling message to her opponents.
Faced with a rematch against the undefeated South Carolina Gamecocks (32-0) following their thrilling clash in Baton Rouge in December, which they lost 76-70, Reese’s squad did everything they had to break their perfect record.
However, their efforts were in futile as the Gamecocks held off the Tigers for a 79-72 triumph in another incredible game to prolong their amazing run.
South Carolina has won the conference tournament championship for the eighth time in ten years, but Reese encouraged her team by declaring they have nothing to be afraid of when they face SC again.
“We are not terrified of South Carolina. I’m going to repeat it. “We’re not afraid of South Carolina,” Reese declared in a passionate postgame speech.
“Many people are afraid by them. We came in and battled till the end. Of course, we came up short. “But we’ll see them again.”
With only nine active players, LSU coach Kim Mulkey had to rely on freshmen Janae Kent and center Aalyah Del Rosario, both of whom had limited experience against the Gamecocks this season.
However, Reese, who stated that they couldn’t use it as a “excuse,” praised the pair for joining the squad and putting in a tremendous amount of physical effort despite playing only a few minutes on the field.
I’m happy. “I’m going to recognize my teammates first, freshmen Janae and Aalyah, who came off the bench and did great things for us,” Reese added. “Mikaylah was frustrated because she had to do tasks in a limited amount of time. She came out to defend and play as hard as she could.
We are proud of this team. We played hard, tough, and did whatever was necessary to win. Unfortunately, we came up short.
