Manchester City Are Willing To Offer €150 million For AC Milan Star

Manchester City are ready to break the bank to recruit Rafael Leao.
According to Fichajes, Manchester City is prepared to smash their transfer record and pay over €150 million to capture AC Milan winger Rafael Leao this summer. Pep Guardiola has long admired the forward and hoped to buy him last summer.

Though Chelsea and PSG expressed interest in the youngster earlier, they are not eager to make a trade. The Blues do not have the finances to complete the transaction. PSG, on the other hand, prefers to acquire a new striker over a left-winger to replace Kylian Mbappe.

Rafael Leao is too good
Rafael Leao is one of the most premium wingers in the football world at present. He kicked off his professional career at Sporting CP before switching to Lille. Eventually, he was lured away by AC Milan on a five-year contract for a fee of €35 million in 2019.
The 24-year-old attacker has scored nine goals and provided 10 assists in 34 games this season. Despite having a decent campaign, his stakes haven’t taken a toll. He is averaging 1.8 shots, 1.5 key passes and 2.2 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).

Leao is known for his lightning speed, effective dribbles and strong finishes. Though he has to improve in the defensive aspects, he remains a valuable pick for any side due to his creativity. He has a €175 million release clause in his contract, which he signed recently with the Italian club.

Should Manchester City break the bank?

Manchester City has increased the stakes after AC Milan rejected their €100 million offer for Rafael Leao. The English Club recruited Jeremy Doku in the summer to cover the left wing. The player started strong but hasn’t been convincing subsequently.

The Citizens would love to sign a prominent left winger to help the team. Leao’s presence will undoubtedly be a significant boost for them. However, they must negotiate with his present club to agree on a fair transfer cost.
