QPR boss Marti Cifuentes give update on key player return ahead of sunderland clash

QPR manager Marti Cifuentes confirms Taylor Richards is recovering from a calf injury.

Richards has only made four Championship appearances this season and hasn’t played since coming on as a substitute against Plymouth three months ago.

“Taylor got an injury in his calf on the last day in January,” Cifuentes revealed in a press release.
“He is on his way back. It was a significant muscular damage, and he is recuperating.”

Richards has only started one league game for Rangers since joining from Brighton in the summer of 2022, initially on a season-long loan.

Under the rules of the loan agreement, the club was required to sign him on a permanent basis last summer.

Cifuentes says it’s unknown when the Hammersmith-born 23-year-old will be eligible for selection.

He stated, “We’re taking it week by week at the moment.”

“It’s currently in the final stages of the injury, but it could still take a few weeks – it’s difficult to predict how many.

“We’re assessing him every week with the medical staff to ensure he’s 100% ready to help the team when he returns. There’s no doubt that there’s a lot of talent in him, and it’s up to him to compete for a spot when he’s back from injury.”
