DONE DEAL : The Washington Commanders signed another cornerback on one-year contract

The Washington Commanders signed another free agent cornerback today. Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback James Pierre has signed a one-year contract to join defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr.’s new unit in Washington. Pierre will also work with Larry Izzo, the new special teams coordinator.

James Pierre was an undrafted free agent from Florida Atlantic who signed with the Steelers following the 2020 NFL draft. He made Pittsburgh’s initial 53-man roster that season, but his first start came the next year. He played the most snaps on defense (36% in 2021), but he has been employed on special teams for at least 45% of snaps in each of his four seasons with the Steelers.
