Andy Reid criticizes L’Jaruis Sneed’s departure from Chiefs and is displeased

He regards Sneed in high regard.
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has expressed his feelings over L’Jarius Sneed leaving the team, calling him as ‘one of my all-time favorite people’.

The cornerback was moved to the Tennessee Titans during the offseason and will no longer be a member of the Chiefs, who are defending the Super Bowl.
Last season, Sneed played an important role in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.

The pay cap has been cited as the key cause for Sneed and the Chiefs’ split.

Sneed has now been transferred to the Titans in exchange for a 2025 third-round draft pick and a 2024 seventh-round selection. Sneed is expected to get a new contract in Tennessee.

Why L'Jarius Sneed Trade Netted So Little Value For Chiefs

Reid’s opinions about Sneed
Reid chatted with Paul Kuharsky at the annual league conference about the 27-year-old Sneed, whom he clearly admired.

“[He is] one of my all-time favourite guys,” he stated. “A wonderful human being. He’s an excellent player, but he’s also a wonderful person. As challenging as you could think. I am his biggest fan.

“He was the lockdown man. Every best receiver, he had the finest receiver.

Reid also revealed that Sneed’s departure was due to salary cap considerations.

“You juggle the salary cap, it’s ridiculous what you have to go through,” he said. “The players you can and cannot keep. But we all adored him, so it wasn’t an issue.”

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes clearly wanted Sneed to continue on the squad.

During an interview with Fox4KC, Mahomes expressed a desire for his teammate to remain in Kansas City for the 2024 season.

He replied, “I don’t have any say in it. “I believe you will hear from everyone on our team that we want Sneed.”

He went on to describe the type of player and person Sneed is, saying, “The player he is, that person he is.” “He’s one of those guys who’s hungry every day.” He also provided some insight into Sneed’s personality, stating: “He’s not going to be the most vocal guy, not always yelling and screaming.”
