LEATES NEWS : Saskatchewan Roughriders sign former NFL DB star player

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed DaMarcus Fields, an American defensive back.

The six-foot, 200-pound defense signed with the New Orleans Saints after going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft and appeared in two games, but did not record any statistics.

Fields joined the Washington Commanders after being released from the Saints and spent the rest of the season on their practice squad, but he was cut in training camp the next year.

In 54 collegiate games at Texas Tech, the Taylor, Texas native recorded 224 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, four interceptions, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and 45 pass knockdowns. In 2021, he was chosen to the Second Team All-Big 12.

The Riders will face the Edmonton Elks at Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday, June 8, to kick off the 2024 regular season.
