Patrick Mahomes mocks Travis Kelce for being one of the oldest Chiefs players while gushing over new WR Marquise Brown

Patrick Mahomes couldn’t pass up the opportunity to criticize good friend Travis Kelce while addressing the age of the Kansas City Chiefs locker room.

Mahomes and Kelce won their third Super Bowl together last season, leading Kansas City to an overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.

As two of the Chiefs’ most important players, they’ve won three titles in five years, the latest two in successive seasons.

Now, Mahomes is focused on next season, when the Super Bowl champions will attempt to become the first team in NFL history to complete a ‘three-peat’.

While stressing that the Chiefs are still primarily a young squad, the quarterback made a humorous shot at Kelce, 34, for being one of the locker room’s elder statesmen.
‘We’re trying to establish that here, and we believe we’ve started and want to continue,’ Mahomes added. ‘We still have a youthful team… aside from Trav.’

Kelce is the second-oldest player on the Kansas City roster, following fellow 34-year-old James Winchester, who was born two months earlier.

Despite this, the great tight end remains at the top of his game, having delivered crucial performances in another Chiefs postseason run to the Super Bowl.

Kelce and Mahomes will be joined next season by Marquise Brown, who signed a one-year contract last week after departing the Arizona Cardinals.

At the 101 Awards in Missouri this weekend, Mahomes stated that he has already been pleased by Brown’s hunger and that “you can tell he wants to win.”

‘Of course, he wants to do good, as does everyone. But you can sense he wants to be a part of something exceptional and amazing.

After insulting Kelce, he went on to say, “If we can keep building this with a lot of people who are hungry and want to win, we can keep this thing going.”
