“It Was a No-Brainer.”
Cincinnati — Last Monday, the Bengals signed veteran offensive tackle Trent Brown to a one-year contract worth up to $4.7 million. The soon-to-be 31-year-old is anticipated to start as right tackle.
Brown described his decision to sign with Cincinnati as a “no-brainer” during an interview with Bengals.com.
“At this point in my career, I was looking at a fit, a place with a family tradition, winning tradition, and the pieces in place to go win it all,” Brown told ESPN. “It was a no-brainer to come to Cincinnati and block for a terrific quarterback. “He also had some pieces around him to throw the ball to.”
Brown will be expected to block some of the game’s greatest pass rushers, which is always a difficult chore, especially in a pass-first system.
“I feel like I’m up for the challenge,” he added. “I think there are a lot of strong players in this division, especially across from where I play, and I believe it will be a tremendous test for me. As I told the coaches, I am not a ra-ra man. I try to set a good example by pulling a young kid aside and giving them some game advice or comments about their game or life in general. “I’m happy to block for a great quarterback.
