She writes, “Prayers for Baltimore.” The Baltimore Bridge’s importance to the port
The Francis Scott Key Bridge’s strategic relevance is the most distressing part of this catastrophe. It is one of just two ways to enter Baltimore’s harbor region, and it has just collapsed. Approximately 75% of all supplies are delivered to the residents using this route. The only other means to get into this port area is through a tunnel in the 95 highway. It’s important to note that the Port of Baltimore is the one that provides everything to both the city of Baltimore and Washington D.C. On that tunnel, there are both biohazard and height restrictions of vehicles that simoy can’t get to the other side without crossing the collapsed bridge.
As the search offrost for victims is ongoing, taking a closer look at the significance of this happening and the aftermath that will come is important. Right now, whats far more important than sending best wishes is for people to unite in support of the Port of Baltimore and the people who live there. There were two victims that were rescued in the early hours that required hispotalization and were found in very serious condition. The vessell crew notified authorities of power issues before the crash and collapse of the bridge
