The Iowa Hawkeyes guard played her final game at her team’s home.
Saying farewell to your second home of four years is never easy. If you don’t believe it, just ask Caitlin Clark, who just said her final goodbye to Carver-Hawkeye Arena via an emotional message on social media.
The Iowa Hawkeyes guard decided to turn professional this year despite having a fifth year of eligibility remaining due to the COVID-19 epidemic shortening the 2021 season. As a result, Clark recently competed in her final duel, where she had lived for the previous four years.

The game against West Virginia Mountaineers was difficult. The opponents attempted to get Clark out of her comfort zone by exploiting her physical abilities. The home team won 64-54, and Caitlin proved she could overcome hardship by scoring 32 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.

Finally, the sorrow of losing her admirers outweighed the pain of the rivals’ brutal play.
Clark’s Message
Clark rushed to Instagram following the game versus the Mountaineers to share a series of ten photographs from the game and the aftermath. Caitlin writes in the accompanying note, “Goodbye to my forever favorite arena.”
She was also thankful for the memories she made in this arena, saying, “The countless memories I have in this place will be cherished forever,” and ending with a call to her following, “See you in Albany, Hawk fans.”
Iowa advanced to the Sweet 16 of the Women’s NCAA Tournament after defeating West Virginia. The round will be contested in Albany, New York, where the Iowa Hawkeyes will face the Colorado Buffaloes for a position in the Elite Eight.
Forever grateful.
In press interviews following the game versus West Virginia, Clark stated that she will always be grateful to the university and Iowa fans.
“I’m very grateful that I got to play in an environment that supports women’s athletics the way that they do, not only women’s basketball – and to be honest, they’ve been doing this before I ever stepped on campus,” the point guard said.
Although Hall of Famer Nancy “Lady Magic” Lieberman and San Francisco 49ers standout tight end George Kittle, a former Hawkeye, attended tonight’s game. Clark said she tries not to look at the stands.
“I try to avoid looking at the stands as much as possible. I’m not sure, but my family has always supported me through the ups and downs of my trip. More than anything, they simply look at me and motivate me, which is a gesture of reassurance,” said an emotional Caitlin Clark.
