Charisma Osborne believes her Bruins can win it all. March Madness has seized the United States by storm, as the top college basketball teams in the country compete for the national championship in a dramatic finish to the 2023/24 season. This year’s women’s tournament is already one of the most watched in history, and several of the finest teams in the whole bracket will compete in one location this weekend.
South Carolina, Iowa, UCLA, and LSU will all play in Albany, New York, beginning Friday night, with the Sweet 16’s centerpiece clash on Saturday afternoon between Angel Reese’s LSU Tigers and Charisma Osborne’s UCLA Bruins. The Tigers are defending.
champions, and the Bruins have been one of the nation’s best teams for two years. Osborne, their standout player, wants more than just to be recognized as the tournament’s #2 seed — and she believes Reese is prepared for a struggle at MVP Arena.

In an interview with ESPN, Osborne, a senior guard from Moreno Valley, Calif., warned LSU ahead of Saturday’s regional semifinal. After falling to South Carolina at this stage last season, Osborne is desperate to lead the Bruins to the promised land this time around.
“Our teammates and I just knew that with the experience that we had from that previous season, that this season we’d be able to go all the way,” Osborne said in a statement.
Osborne is largely regarded as one of the best defensive players in women’s college basketball, and she could be a top-10 pick in the WNBA Draft next month. Along with guard Kiki Rice and guard Lauren Betts, this trio aims to kill LSU’s aspirations of a repeat in Albany — and maybe reach the Final Four for the first time in school history.

“I wanted to come to UCLA because I knew this had never been done before, and I wanted to be at a school where I could possibly be the first to do it,” Osborne said of reaching the national semifinals.
But Reese, Flau’jae Johnson, and Hailey Van Lith are a powerful three in their own right, and after hammering Middle Tennessee State in the second round — while UCLA struggled to beat Creighton — the Tigers, despite being the lower seed, will be confident of advancing to the regional final. There, in the Elite Eight, a title game rematch with Caitlin Clark’s Hawkeyes is possible.
