The Nigerian defender has returned to duty after a three-year absence.
Nnamdi Ofoborh, a Nigerian defender, has signed with English League Two club Swindon Town after missing three years due to a heart condition, according to Soccernet.ng.
Ofoborh signed for Rangers on a free transfer from Bournemouth in 2021. Unfortunately, only weeks into his time at the club, he was diagnosed with a cardiac condition. Due to this issue, he did not play for the club during his whole two-year tenure.
His career was interrupted during the two years that he did not play, and he eventually parted ways with the Rangers in the summer of 2023.
Swindon Town, an English League Two side, has confirmed the signing of Ofoborh. The contract has now been finalized after being approved by the EFL board.
Ofoborh played in Friday’s game against Notts County, which the team won. He started on the bench but was introduced in the 85th minute.
The 24-year-old central defender’s move to Swindon Town could be the start of his recovery, as he hopes to find a bigger club if he performs well before the conclusion of the season.
Ofoborh has not been called up to the Super Eagles, but if he can re-establish himself and find a stronger club, he may be able to join them in the coming years.
He was part of Nigeria’s squad for the 2019 Under-20 World Cup finals in Poland, where he appeared three times.
