Huddersfield Town boss Andre Breitenreiter’s invitation to Kevin Nagle, thoughts on an ’emotional’ win and message to fans after Championship victory over Millwall

ANDRE BREITENREITER has revealed that he allowed Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle inside the dressing room to soak up the scenes that followed a potentially pivotal moment in the club’s season on Saturday.
Substitute Rhys Healey’s last-gasp winner against Millwall gave Town their first victory in seven games, lifting them out of the relegation zone, with Nagle in attendance after flying over from California.

Breitenreiter stated, “I spoke with our owner and invited him to come to the dressing room because it was his first home win with me as manager, and he also spoke to the team (after), and he was really delighted and emotional.

“Now we must recover and take the next step. We need more wins, and this was a solid start. We must work hard to win.

Breitenreiter joined in the celebrations after Healey’s dramatic 94th-minute intervention, which was an emotional moment for Town in an otherwise difficult season.

The Town manager, whose team won for the first match at home under his leadership, added: “It is always emotional when you score a goal in extra time.

“The players were running to the touchline, and as a former player, I could feel their emotions.

“I was thrilled for the players and the entire staff because they had worked hard, and it was great to have this opportunity to enjoy the win, which will boost our confidence.

“We deserved the points and worked together until the last minute. “This is the way we must go.”

Breitenreiter was disappointed that some spectators jeered home player Ben Jackson in the first half, as well as late substitute Tom Edwards when he came on.
