Nathan Jones, Charlton Athletic’s manager, showered praise on George Dobson following their draw with Wigan Athletic.
Last night, Charlton Athletic and the Latics drew 2-2 at The Valley in League One.
Dobson, 26, assisted Chuks Aneke’s leveller for the Addicks with 10 minutes remaining.
Jones stated after the game, according to the official club website, that “He affects the football game.” This is why I like him. People believe he is an out of possession player because he rushes around and slides in to win it. People assume he’s a defensive midfielder.
“He isn’t. He’s a much better footballer than most people realize. I’ve seen and recognized that. He has had an impact on almost every football game that he has played.
played for us, and that is all you can expect of a midfielder.”
Dobson, a Charlton Athletic midfielder, will leave the club this summer once his contract expires at the end of the season.
He has signed a pre-contract agreement with Fehervar in Hungary and will formally begin working with them on July 1st, as revealed on their website.
Losing him is a significant loss for the Addicks because he is a vital player in the middle of the park.
Jones, who has previously managed Luton Town, Stoke City, and Southampton, has done an excellent job in charge so far and will be looking forward to the next season.
However, Dobson’s attention has been drawn by a new challenge abroad.
He was snapped up by the Addicks in 2021 and has since made 141 appearances for them in all competitions, 45 of which have come this term, and he has chipped in with five goals.
The Londoner started out with spells as a youngster at both Arsenal and West Ham. He has since had spells in the Football League at Walsall and Sunderland, as well as a stint in Holland with Sparta Rotterdam so he is no stranger to heading overseas.
Charlton’s unbeaten run continues after they fought back against Wigan and they are now sat in 14th position in the third tier table.
They have three more fixtures left to get through before they can start planning for the summer. Next up is an away trip to Cambridge United this weekend.
