I WANT TO LEAVE; QPR potential star ‘set’ to leave this summer when contract expires, report suggests

/QPR Full-back Osman Kakay ‘seems likely’ to quit the club this summer, according to a report from West London Sport.
QPR haven’t used the defender since Boxing Day, and he’s slid down the pecking order.
Kakay, 26, is set to become a free agent in late June once his contract expires at the end of the season.

According to West London Sport, he ‘appears’ to have already played his final game for the Championship team. Marti Cifuentes, the Rangers’ manager, has stated, “It’s nothing against Ozzie. I will not be assessing what he has done at the club over many years. He has demonstrated that he is a very competent player.

“But obviously we are in a situation where there is a lot of competition to get into the squad at right full-back.”

QPR have additional possibilities in Kakay’s position, including Reggie Cannon, Aaron Drewe, and Jimmy Dunne, who has lately played there.

The Westminster native has made 88 appearances for the Hoops in all competitions, 25 of which have come this season, and has scored twice.

He rose through the R’s academy ranks and was a regular at several young levels.

Kakay had early loan spells with Livingston, Chesterfield, and Partick Thistle as a youngster to gain experience.

The Sierra Leone international, who has 17 caps, burst into the first-team picture at QPR in 2020 but has since seen his playing time decrease under Cifuentes.

Kakay may benefit from cutting connections with the Hoops permanently for the first time. It would take him out of his comfort zone and provide him the opportunity to establish roots somewhere else and earn more minutes.

QPR drew 1-1 with Plymouth Argyle at Home Park last time out as they seek to avoid relegation to League One.

They return to play this weekend, travelling to the MKM Stadium to face Hull City.

Cifuentes’ men sit 16th in the league, four points above the relegation zone with four games remaining.
