Charlton Athletic have activated the one-year extension clause in Lucas Ness’ contract, keeping him with the club until the summer of 2025.
Ness joined the Addicks from Metropolitan Police in the summer of 2020 after a successful trial, and he has since made 43 first-team appearances.
The 22-year-old’s breakthrough 2022/23 season was celebrated by Charlton supporters, who named him Player of the Month for January and February. Before suffering a season-ending injury in March 2023, he had made 16 consecutive starts.
Ness has appeared 20 times this season in all competitions.
Manager Nathan Jones stated, “We’re thrilled to have Lucas. He’s been a member of the squad and the team throughout the season. It’s impossible to adjust an unbeaten team, so he hasn’t played much since I took over. We’re happy to have him, though; he’s a terrific guy, a good defender, and someone who has worked his way up the ranks. We’re incredibly proud of him and happy to have him for another year.”
