Charlton Athletic could re-sign Anfernee Dijksteel at the end of the season.
Charlton Athletic traded the defender to Middlesbrough in 2019, following their promotion from League One under previous manager Lee Bowyer.
Dijksteel, 27, has been at the Riverside Stadium in the Championship for the previous five years.
However, according to TeesideLive, he is ‘likely’ to quit Michael Carrick’s side this summer, leaving the door open for the Addicks to try to get him back.
Charlton Athletic could re-sign the promotion winner.
Charlton Athletic face a busy few months ahead as ex-Luton Town, Stoke City, and Southampton manager Nathan Jones attempts to imprint his own mark on the club.
He has done an excellent job since replacing Michael Appleton, and he will be pushing for promotion next year.
Dijksteel would be a wise addition for the London club, considerably improving their defensive department.
He is already familiar with the club, the fans know what to expect from him, and he has already been promoted from the third division.
The Suriname international, who has one cap, still has a year left at Middlesbrough, but his future remains uncertain.
Dijksteel joined Charlton Athletic in 2016 after impressing at the Nike Academy, and he went on to make 59 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Boro enticed him north after the Addicks defeated Sunderland in the play-off final at Wembley Stadium, and he has since been a valuable member of his current squad, appearing in over 100 games.
He doesn’t get as many minutes these days, and leaving would be a wise decision for his career.
Charlton Athletic would be able to provide him frequent opportunities, therefore he is worth considering ahead of the next window.
The Addicks drew 1-1 at home to Shrewsbury Town last time out and will play Wycombe Wanderers away this weekend on the final day.
