QPR receive boost as leeds united confirm key player ruleout, due to injury blow

Leeds United have revealed that Dan James will miss their Championship meeting with QPR owing to an injury sustained against Middlesbrough.

The Whites announced on their official website that the Welshman had “suffered a costal cartilage injury and an oblique abdominal muscle tear”.
The club stated that he will be “unavailable for Friday’s (26 April) to QPR” due to the damage sustained. With only two games left in the season, he could be out for the remainder.

Leeds could secure promotion in these games, therefore James’ injury will be a setback for Daniel Farke’s team.

The Whites seek for promotion.

Leeds United announce Dan James injury update after what happened v Middlesbrough

This is especially amazing given that he has only made 28 starts and 12 substitute appearances.
According to Fbref, he is one of the season’s greatest attacking midfielders and wingers in terms of goals and assists. He also has 4.34 progressive carries and 11.61 progressive passes, which helps Leeds move up the pitch.
Summerville and Georginio Rutter’s success at Leeds have somewhat eclipsed him. Wilfried Gnonto has also been in and out of the starting lineup with the Welshman.

Even if he doesn’t start, his pace is intimidating for defenders late in a game, which can pose problems.

Gnonto scored against Middlesbrough, and Jaidon Anthony came on as well, so there are other choices.

James will miss the last games, but Farke should not be devastated.

In unrelated Leeds United news, Don Goodman expressed “concern” before the win against Middlesbrough.
