Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in Brentford’s former Barnsley forward, Ivan Toney, ahead of the summer transfer season.
Toney, currently 28, had two loan spells at Barnsley during the 2015-16 season. He only hit the target twice in 21 appearances, but he has subsequently developed into one of the country’s most deadly marksmen.
A talismanic character for Brentford, he recently broke into the England national team and might be on the aircraft to Euro 2024. This season, transfer rumors about his future with the Bees have been rampant.
The attacker has been linked to Chelsea, Arsenal, and West Ham United. According to 90min, Manchester United is interested in Toney and believes he can provide experience and leadership to their dressing room.

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is rumored to be higher on the Red Devils’ wishlist, but Toney could become a more appealing choice if Brentford’s valuation falls.
Meanwhile, GiveMeSport claims Tottenham could test the waters with a £45 million bid for the forward. The team is currently searching to replace former captain Harry Kane and could make a bid if there is little competition for Toney’s services.
Darragh MacAnthony, chairman of Peterborough United, has backed Toney in his efforts to transform Manchester United into a Premier League title contender.
MacAnthony sold Toney to Brentford in 2020 and believes the forward could make a huge impact at Old Trafford.
Earlier this month, he stated: “Put him in an Arsenal, Liverpool, or Manchester United team, and he will score 30 Premier League goals in a season.” Anyone who disagrees with it hasn’t been watching for the past two and a half years.
“I believe there are five clubs in the world that might potentially buy him, and he will improve any of them significantly. “He transforms Manchester United into Premier League contenders.”
