Jamal Adams could return to the Seattle Seahawks in 2024: Report

Jamal Adams was released by the Seattle Seahawks in March, but the safety might return to the team in 2024.

The Seahawks have been in touch, and Adams’ return to the team is a possibility, according to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. The San Francisco 49ers have also made contact with Adams, who is now a free agent.

The Seahawks are thin at both safety and linebacker. In last week’s 2024 NFL draft, they drafted one linebacker but no safety. Adams, who is designated as a safety, played more as a hybrid linebacker inside the box in 2023.

In recent seasons, Adams has struggled to stay on the field. He not only struggled to stay on the field, but he was also underproductive over the last two seasons.

In 2020, the Seahawks traded two first-round draft picks to the New York Jets for Adams. Adams’ debut season with the Seahawks was outstanding, with 83 total tackles and 9.5 sacks in 12 games. Adams’ 9.5 sacks set an NFL record for safety. He was named to the Pro Bowl and received second-team All-Pro recognition.

Adams, 28, has suffered several ailments (shoulder, knee, quadriceps, and finger) since the 2020 season. Adams has appeared in just 22 of 51 games over the last three seasons. He appeared in only one game in 2022 and nine more before being sidelined in 2023 due to knee concerns.
