BREAKING NEWS : Steve Evans’ send a message to out-of-contract Rotherham United players ahead of D-Day

STEVE EVANS thinks that some out-of-contract Rotherham United players have one last chance to grab his eye this weekend before the club announces their retained list next week.
A number of players’ contracts are coming to an end, and while Evans has made his decision on the majority of them, the door may still be open for one or two.

Evans, whose team finishes the season at home against Cardiff on Saturday, said: “Every game is a time to impress, especially when new people will be making significant decisions.

“We’re well-known among Rotherham United followers, but not so much to the players. They know us from a distance, but we have not been in the trenches with them.

“I’ve already made certain judgments and tentatively discussed them with the chairman. The players had one more chance to claim, “I should be playing a part at New York Stadium.” “Who wouldn’t want to play a role here?”

Evans has announced that he would meet with players whose contracts expire on Tuesday, with an announcement expected in due time.

He went on to say: “It’s always subject to board approval, but the retained list should come out on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning at the latest.”It is not my place to enable players to sit there for four to five days thinking about what they want their future to be rather than where we, as a club, view their future.

“It’s critical that we meet with them as much as possible in person and go over the decision, good or bad depending on how they see it, in a genuine manner, giving them an honest view.

“We’re new to this. We will tell them where we are heading and how we plan to get there.

“We will also consider their points of view. On Tuesday, the playing staff and other football staff will be informed of the decisions. Sean Morrison will be tested before potentially facing his former team on Saturday, while Shane Ferguson returned to training on Thursday.

Viktor Johansson is slated to play his final game for the Millers, as the Swede is anticipated to be sold this summer.
