LATEST NEWS: QPR’s two excellent players have agreed to confirm fresh contracts with the club.

West London Sport says that QPR’s Elijah Dixon-Bonner and Joe Walsh are likely to sign new contracts.

Both players are out of contact this summer and appear to have convinced manager Marti Cifuentes that they should be kept.

They played in the final-day victory over Coventry, where goalkeeper Walsh made his Championship debut for the club.

Walsh, 22, spent time on loan at Accrington Stanley earlier this season and is considered a promising young player.

Dixon-Bonner, 23, was signed in 2022 after leaving Liverpool, and his appearance at Coventry was his 16th this season.

Cifuentes believes Dixon-Bonner has the potential to be a useful alternative for the R’s.

Cifuentes told West London Sport: “He (Dixon-Bonner) is a terrific player, a young player who can develop well and help us a lot in the future.

“Walshy has worked very hard. I believe the loan he received helped him a lot; he returned with a lot of confidence.”

QPR stated on Tuesday that they have exercised an option to extend the contract of defender Jimmy Dunne, who impressed during their successful time in the Championship under Cifuentes.

However, fellow defender Osman Kakay has been dismissed at the end of his contract at Loftus Road.
