BREAKING NEWS : Derby County are determined to ensure19-year-old’s long-term future with a new agreement.

Derby County teenager Darren Robinson is in advanced talks with the club about a new contract, Football Insider has learned.

Robinson’s current contract is set to expire in June, but Derby are determined to ensure the 19-year-old’s long-term future with a new agreement.
The Northern Ireland Under-21 international midfielder is highly respected at Pride Park, having made his senior debut under Wayne Rooney near the end of the 2021-22 season.

He made only one senior appearance in 2023-24, a 90-minute match in the EFL Trophy against Wolves’ Under-21 team.

Robinson spent the entire season on the bench in League One, but he never appeared in the third tier.

Nonetheless, Derby are eager to keep the teenager at the club following their promotion to the Championship as runners-up.

Robinson has four first-team appearances for the Rams in total.

He is still a regular at the club’s development level, having made 53 appearances for the Under-18 and Under-21 teams.

The 19-year-old started his career with Northern Irish clubs Dungannon and Portadown before joining Derby in 2021.
Paul Warne’s side has yet to reveal their retained roster following a good 2023-24 season.

Conor Hourihane, Dwight Gayle, Louie Sibley, and James Collins are among the 12 players out of contract at the end of next month.
