BREAKING NEWS : AFL top clubs are reportedly pushing hard to sign Sydney Swans 25-year-old potential star

The Sydney Swans star’s worth appears to be rising. The Adelaide Crows are reportedly offering a massive deal to Sydney Swans standout Will Hayward, while other AFL clubs compete for the brilliant 25-year-old player. Hayward was born in Adelaide but is presently playing for the Sydney Swans.

The 25-year-old was brilliant last Friday against Fremantle, scoring four goals in the Swans’ win. And his efforts continue to be noted, with Channel Nine’s Xander McGuire suggesting that the Crows are willing to offer Hayward a contract worth roughly $800,000 per year.

According to McGuire, this undercuts the Swans’ present short-term arrangement, which is due to pay Hayward about $550,000 per year. According AFL reporter Jon Ralph, Carlton is also interested and will make a higher offer than the Swans. He elaborated, saying the Crows might offer a monster six-year contract with enough of salary cap space, and Port Adelaide is also keen.

“But while Carlton has a six-year offer on the table, it is understood they would not go anywhere near the scope of rival offers,” Ralph wrote in the Herald Sun. “Their offer will be in the upper 600s but will not begin with a seven, let alone $800,000.

Where there's a Will: Dependable Sydney Swan Will Hayward hits career-best form

“Their players have pledged to take less in coming seasons to keep the list together so they can hardly splash $850,000 on a free agent and ask their players to sacrifice.” The Swans will face Carlton on Friday night. Kane Cornes praises Will Hayward.
Kane Cornes recently praised Hayward, calling him a “underrated star.” The Port Adelaide legend said Hayward does not receive the same attention as some of Sydney’s other forwards. “I think he’s the best ‘no one talks about me’ player,” Cornes told SEN Radio in March.

“I absolutely love Hayward’s style of play. He’s tough, he performs a really unselfish role in a difficult situation, he’s good in the air, he always bobs up and Kicks a goal when you need it. “Everyone you speak to in Sydney loves him. He is often named greatest team player, yet no one actually talks about him. I just felt he deserved some love.” Hayward has been in phenomenal form this season, scoring 19 goals in nine games. The Swans are at the top of the table and will meet Carlton on Friday night at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Carlton is fifth on the ladder, with six wins and three losses.
