LATEST NEWS : Sheffield Wednesday Owner Dejphon Chansiri discusses Danny Rohl’s future at Sheffield Wednesday.

Sheffield Wednesday fans are eager to see what happens with manager Danny Rohl this summer.

Danny Rohl’s future at Sheffield Wednesday is currently a hot subject, following the Owls’ stunning 20th-place finish in the 2023/24 Championship season.

There are reports that Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri is negotiating on a new agreement for Rohl behind the scenes.

It comes after amicable negotiations between the two at the close of the season, with Rohl allegedly expected to meet with Chansiri later this week.

Rohl is also interested in other Championship clubs, like Sunderland and Hull City, ahead of the summer transfer window.

Both clubs appear to be more focused on other goals. However, Sheffield Wednesday fans will be desperate for Rohl to sign in S6, as his current contract expires next summer. Alan Biggs’ verdict on Danny Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday
Rohl is hot property in the Championship, and with good reason; his turnaround at Sheffield Wednesday was one of the best in the league’s history. After defeating Sunderland 2-0 on the penultimate day of the season, the Owls became the only team in Championship history to avoid relegation despite going winless in their first 13 games.

Biggs also commented on X about whether Rohl will stay this summer, saying, “I’d be surprised if not.”

Sheffield Wednesday is Rohl’s first managerial job after coaching at Red Bull Leipzig, Southampton, Bayern Munich, and the German national team.

His Wednesday record is presently 16 wins in 38 games, with 16 losses. Sheffield Wednesday is currently confronting one important enemy.
Regardless of which teams show interest in Rohl or what happens with his future, Wednesday has one constant threat when it comes to Rohl: time.

The longer Rohl goes without a contract, the greater the possibility that Sheffield Wednesday will lose him for nothing next summer.

There are rumours of a £10 million compensation plan in place for Rohl and his backroom crew in S6, as well as £5 million for Rohl alone, and if Rohl’s future does not lie in Sheffield, the Owls will want some money to show for it.

So obtaining a new deal for Rohl is critical for Sheffield Wednesday, possibly even more important than maintaining Rohl himself.

The Owls need to provide some financial certainty for his future and minimize the chance of losing him for free in a year.

But, so far, everything appears to be going well, with Rohl and Chansiri visibly in discussions and no evidence of any stumbling blocks.
