LATEST UPDATE : Premier League side join Celtic in race to sign QPR key player

According to reporter Alan Nixon’s Patreon page, QPR goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has emerged as a potential transfer target for his old side AFC Bournemouth.
QPR will make a decision on the veteran stopper’s long-term future this summer as they prepare for another season in the Championship. They swooped in to sign him last year on a 12-month contract, and he was their top player this season.

Begovic, 36, was brought in to replace Seny Dieng after he left for Middlesbrough, and he has since made 46 appearances in all competitions for the London club. However, his contract ends at the end of next month and he has yet to sign an extension, so he is set to become a free agent as things are.

According to journalist Nixon’s recent Patreon update on his future, Bournemouth may try to woo him back to Dorset to improve their goalkeeping ranks. TalkSPORT linked him to Celtic in late April.

Former QPR player Begovic is a valuable addition to the squad because to his extensive experience.

However, it remains to be seen whether he will be QPR’s first choice next term, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Marti Cifuentes bring in a younger player. As a result, the Hoops’ decision to break relations with the ex-Bosnia and Herzegovina international may have been a wise one, as it would free up space and cash in their ranks to bring in other reinforcements to strengthen their squad.

Begovic was on Bournemouth’s books from 2017 to 2021, and they may now consider him as someone to give extra cover and competition to their goalkeeping department as they prepare for another season in the top tier.

He played 113 games for the Cherries and was loaned to Qarabag and AC Milan.

The Trebinje native began his career with Portsmouth and has previously played for Stoke City, Chelsea, and Everton.

QPR will consider Begovic’s status as his contract approaches its expiration date.

He doesn’t appear to be short on choices if he decides to leave, with Bournemouth and Celtic both connected with him.

The Hoops face a busy few months as they prepare for their first full season under Cifuentes.
