Stoke City have confirmed the departure of their Head of Recruitment, Jared Dublin, after less than a year in the post.
The former scout was hired by Ricky Martin in June of last year, but due to a change in technical director, Martin has been replaced by Potters great Jon Walters, he is also leaving.
Dublin joins from Reading after spending six years at Sheffield United, where he assisted them to promotion between 2017 and 2023.
However, with the Martin/Alex Neil administration no longer in place, Dublin’s impending departure represents yet another severance of relations with past football power brokers.
Dublin was praised at the time of his appointment for his ability to enter new markets and discover lesser-known talents.
Martin and Dublin brought in players like Andre Vidigal, Ryan Mmaee, Mehdi Leris, and Nikola Jojic, as well as unqualified success stories like Wouter Burger. Overall, Stoke had a terrible season, prompting Neil’s departure in December.
Martin followed in February, with Walters taking over as interim before securing the job permanently a few months later.
Stoke City have already made their first move in the summer transfer market, winning the race to capture goalkeeper Viktor Johansson from Rotherham United.
Walters told the club’s website, “We are grateful to Jared for his efforts in the role over the last year and wish him well in the future.” Work to find a successor will begin immediately, and we will notify our fans once an appointment has been made.
“I can assure supporters that our player recruitment will continue to move forward during the process of making an appointment.”
