Wolves fans have launched a petition urging the club to reconsider its season ticket price increases.
Supporters were outraged on Thursday when the club announced renewal pricing rises, with many fans seeing a 17 percent increase and certain children’s costs rising by up to 176 percent.
As a result of the rises, some supporters have resigned from Molineux’s fan forum groups, while seven fan groups have joined forces to launch a petition against the move. A joint statement read: “The recent revelation of the pricing of season tickets for the 2024/25 season has sent shockwaves through the fanbase.
“Match-going fans are the heartbeat of any football club, the very core of what a football club represents.
“These fans are now disillusioned, frustrated, and angry following yesterday’s announcement.
“In a cost-of-living crisis and a city that has the second-highest unemployment rate in the UK, these prices are offensive and will now force many to question if they can afford to renew – perhaps even putting some in financial difficulty to fund the one thing that they treasure.”Priced out of a lifelong love, passion, and community.
“We have observed the club’s excellent work in the local community, particularly in the area of mental health, and we are extremely pleased of this.
“Meanwhile, Gary O’Neil and the players have helped to rebuild that special bond with the fans.”
“Unfortunately, Thursday’s announcement demonstrates how disconnected the club’s decision-makers are from the Wolves Foundation’s outstanding work for our city and its residents.
“We urge those at the club to reconsider their attitude to ticket prices before irreparable harm is done to the supporters and the local community.
“It is not too late to reconsider and secure the club’s future for the fans who have helped us get where we are today. To retain the very heart of this historic old club.
“As fans, we stay loyal to our club through good times and bad.” However, since this declaration, many people have questioned the direction of our journey and whether they want to continue being a part of it.
“Wolverhampton Wanderers FC has always been an integral part of the local community and adjacent areas. The club’s commitment to the community is now being called into doubt.
“We strongly encourage the club to reconsider it’s approach.”
