Derby County will play National League champions Chesterfield in a pre-season friendly this summer, the club announced. The Rams will play at Proact Stadium on Wednesday, July 24, with kickoff at 7.30 p.m.
Last season, Paul Warne’s side faced the Spireites in a friendly and won 1-0, with James Collins scoring the only goal.
Chesterfield is ready for life back in the Football League following a successful season in which they won the National League title with 98 points.
Derby’s pre-season program is taking shape ahead of their return to the Championship, with the Rams travelling to Spain for a pre-season camp in July.
That proved to be a tremendously useful squad bonding exercise as they earned promotion. Derby will also play non-league Matlock on Friday, July 12, and tickets for that game sold out in 12 hours.
