Portsmouth closing in on ‘significant’ deal as kit supplier announcement expected

Andy Cullen has indicated that Pompey are’very near’ to making a kit supplier announcement.

The Blues’ chief executive stated that confirmation is expected by the end of this month, with the arrangement now being negotiated on as ‘a considerable advance on anything the club has had before’.
Many followers on social media are guessing that a new supplier would be unveiled. However, The News believes Pompey’s deal with Nike will continue for a seventh season, despite invitations to supply Blues jerseys to the Fratton supporters. It is unclear what Nike’s 2024-25 range will look like. Meanwhile, Cullen said that details of a new contract were imminent.

Speaking to BBC Radio Solent, the Blues CEO said: ‘We’re very close. We’ve got a few contractual issues to put in place, so we have a deal agreed if you like in terms of a short-form agreement, but it’s absolutely important that we get that nailed down.

‘It’s a deal that’s been put together, it’s a significant improvement on anything the club has had before and, of course, we’ve had a fantastic season this year in terms of record shirt sales, retail turnover and nearly 25-percent up on last season – again, a record year for the retail.

‘So, we’ve had a really, really good year and now, going into the Championship, we’re looking to improve that even further. We’re very, very close and I would hope, by the end of the month, we’re in a position to make that announcement.’
