BREAKING NEWS : Springboks and All Blacks agree terms to revive blockbuster traditional tours – report

The Springboks and All Blacks will resume traditional visits in 2026, according to SA Rugby and New Zealand Rugby.

The two unions have been in negotiations about resurrecting the trips since last year, with SA Rugby president Mark Alexander and NZ Rugby chief executive Mark Robinson confirming the talks.

According to South African daily Rapport, the two unions have reached an agreement to revive customary excursions every four years.

The All Blacks will tour South Africa in 2026 for a three-Test series, including five midweek matches against the four URC franchises – the Bulls, Lions, Sharks, and Stormers – as well as a match against South Africa A.

A fourth Test match between the two sides is also scheduled for a neutral venue, with the Springboks traveling New Zealand in 2030.

The 2026 tour will represent 30 years since the previous conventional tour between the two countries, when the All Blacks defeated the Boks 2-1 in South Africa in 1996.

The Springboks will tour New Zealand in 2030, as well as Super Rugby Pacific sides, with the Maori All Blacks perhaps joining them on the tours.

It is also reported that the Black Ferns and Springbok women may be included in the touring itinerary.

Both nations will continue to host a Northern Hemisphere team during the July Test window and go north for the November internationals, which will count towards the Nations Cup.
