Derby County fans all saying the same thing after Ben Osborn is released by Sheffield Utd

Derby County fans have all said the same thing since Ben Osborn was released by Sheffield United.

Ben Osborn was born in Derby and joined the Rams academy in 2002. He was released after just one year and went on to join rivals Nottingham Forest, where he spent 16 years.

The midfielder made over 200 appearances for Forest before joining Sheffield United in 2019, where he helped the club earn promotion to Premier League.

It was assumed that the Blades would activate the one-year extension option in Osborn’s contract, but he was unexpectedly released following their relegation.

The 29-year-old is now available on a free transfer and is expected to draw a lot of attention from the Championship.

Osborn’s flexibility, having played left-back, left midfield, and central midfield during his career, might be extremely beneficial to any possible suitor.

He has plenty of EFL experience and may be a great value for anyone looking to get him up to the second division.
Having grown up a Derby County fan, @Rams_Chat has now proposed bringing him back to Pride Park.

Ben Osborn would be an extremely costly free transfer.
Ben Osborn was claimed to be earning roughly £20,000 per week at Bramall Lane.

According to Salary Sport, Derby’s top earner last year was Conor Hourihane, who earned £12,000 a week.

With the midfielder leaving Pride Park at the end of the season, Osborn would earn far more than the rest of the Derby squad.

While Osborn would have had to accept a wage cut if he had been relegated with Sheffield United, it may not be a viable acquisition to pay such a high monthly fee for his services.

However, it is probable that the 29-year-old will decide where he ends up, as there will undoubtedly be lots of Championship clubs vying for his free transfer.
