Donovan Pines, a Barnsley defender, has returned to the United States for rehabilitation after suffering a thigh injury.
The 26-year-old, who has been capped by the United States at senior level, joined the Reds in January. However, he was sidelined by a thigh injury in March, after only four games for the club.
His absence was noted on the field, but Pines remained present in the buildup, accompanying his teammates to games even though he was unable to participate. He watched as Barnsley lost to Bolton Wanderers in the League
One play-off semi-finals, denying them another trip to Wembley Stadium. Pines spoke with iFollow Barnsley to inform supporters on his status as he prepares to return. He said, “Things have been going nicely. “I’m just thankful
that everything is going well and praying every day.”Allow things to take over and be natural. I’m eating healthy and eating a lot of nutritious meals to get the necessary therapy to be 100% ready for pre-season.”I’m just taking it day by day, week by week, and I’m glad I’m not focusing too much on it. I’m making good use of my time, and all I’m thinking about is the next chapter of my career, which is next preseason. Getting it right and ensuring that I can start strong and contribute to the team’s success next year. “I’ll be undergoing rehabilitation at home. I’m looking forward to returning to work, leaving the past behind, and moving on.” A lot has changed since Pines’ last appearance, with the most major alteration occurring in the dugout. Darrell Clarke will take over as manager of the Reds for the 2024/25 season, replacing Neill Collins.
