Wolves are in the hunt for attacking reinforcements, and links with Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah continue to emerge. Wolverhampton Wanderers’ season went from predictions of misery to a more-than-respectable campaign in the Premier League last season, with the Molineux-based side finishing just three points off the top half after a superb run of form throughout the winter months – but with improvements to be made to the squad, they are set to compete with Crystal Palace and Fulham for the signing of Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal, Dean Jones has exclusively told GIVEMESPORT.
Wolves began the season in consistent, albeit uninspiring form, but seven wins in 12 Premier League games propelled them into the top half of the standings. That was unsustainable due to injury issues, but the West Midlands club did more than enough to survive in the division after several had predicted their relegation earlier in the season under Gary O’Neill. And they may be looking to add to their ranks in the summer, with Nketiah connected as they continue their Premier League trip.
Eddie Nketiah: Latest Transfer News Arsenal striker Nketiah has struggled for a first-team spot.
Nketiah has long been touted with a move away from Arsenal after playing third-string behind Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus this season, starting only 10 top-flight games and none of them in 2024.
Havertz’s shift in style from Mikel Arteta saw him play as a deep-lying striker, as indicated by a flurry of goals late in the season, including nine in 14 Premier League games to finish the season on a high note. Jesus has struggled and has been linked with a move, but Nketiah has reportedly piqued the interest of Wolves, Palace, and Fulham, according to Jones, with Leicester also being connected. Arsenal has slapped a reported £50 million price tag on their homegrown talent, which may scare some clubs away.
A motion. Jones says “Wolves Have Long-Standing Interest”
Nketiah has been on the Wolves’ radar for some time. Jones revealed exclusively to GIVEMESPORT that Wolves have a long-standing interest in the striker, which could be enough to entice him to move north to Molineux. Jones said:
“Wolves, Fulham, and Crystal Palace are all looking to add goals. Palace’s success will be determined by exits, as Jean-Philippe Mateta has been scoring effectively, but they may want further firepower.
“Even if the players that leave are not like-for-like, such as Nketiah, Wolves, Palace, and Fulham, particularly Wolves and Palace, have long been interested in him.
“With Fulham, we know they wanted a striker and hoped it would work with Broja, but it didn’t — so they will now hunt for additional goals, despite Rodrigo Muniz’s superb second half of the season.
“So there’s several Premier League clubs, but particularly those three that I mentioned, that might be considering Nketiah – it’s just about meeting Arsenal’s asking price.” Wolves could sell their current star to afford Nketiah.
The Wolves’ greatest players are usually on the radar of big teams.
Wolves star Pedro Neto has been linked with a transfer away from Molineux, with Manchester City and Newcastle reportedly chasing his signature for £60 million, however any deal is still a long way off. However, with Hwang Hee-Chan and Matheus Cunha joining the club and firing on all cylinders last season, there is undoubtedly reason to be optimistic if Wolves have a successful transfer window in the coming months.
