Barnsley’s 24-year-old star has already revealed his future intentions as Sunderland consider a potential decision.

Sunderland have the option of signing Barnsley’s Callum Styles on a permanent transfer this summer.
Callum Styles has already stated that he would like to continue at Sunderland after his loan term at the Stadium of Light.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Black Cats from Barnsley, made 12 Championship games in the second part of the 2023/24 season. Sunderland have the option to make the deal permanent, but they are considering their options ahead of the summer transfer season. Styles has been chosen to Hungary’s 26-man roster for the upcoming Euro 2024 competition, allowing him to play for the country where his mother was born. He has 20 international caps. During the May issue of FourFourTwo, the 24-year-old was quizzed about his club and international ambitions, as well as his time at Sunderland. “We’ve gone through two managers this season so it’s been a rocky road,” Styles responded. “But after nine or ten matches, I began to enjoy myself, and the fans are incredibly passionate. It’s a premier club.” When asked about his future and what comes next, he said, “I haven’t really thought about it because I’ve been focused on playing. Sunderland has Premier League ambitions, therefore I’d like to stay longer, but there are many elements that could lead to different outcomes. We will see.
