Reading FC departing star sends message to supporters

Nesta Guinness-Walker, the departing Reading defender, has wished the club and supporters well, conceding that his time in Berkshire did not end ‘as intended.’ The 24-year-old full-back arrived in 2022 and made 41 appearances for the club; however, none have been made since January, when the unpopular defender joined Stevenage on loan.

Guinness-Walker’s contract with Berkshire expired after 14 appearances for Boro.

In a goodbye message to supporters, the attacking defender stated that he was ‘proud’ to play for the club and ‘looks forward to seeing the fans get the club back to where it belongs.’

It has been a difficult time to be a Royal in the last two years, with relegation and a volatile second season caused by owner Dai Yongge’s neglect. Guinness-Walker wrote on Instagram: “I want to thank everyone at Reading as my time at the club comes to an end.”I’ve met some wonderful people, and while it didn’t finish as I had intended, I feel honored to have worn the shirt.

“I wish everyone involved at the club the best and look forward to seeing the fans get the club back to where it belongs.”
